With Wichita’s recent brewery trend, up came Bricktown Brewery from Oklahoma. Bricktown Brewery offers a selection of proprietary beer as well as a full bar. I generally avoid breweries because I am not fond of beer, but a gathering with friends took me here. Bricktown Brewery draws crowds because of its atmosphere (televisions and outdoor patio) and late hours, and some would arguably say food. Bricktown Brewery provides an eclectic menu , and easily seats large groups with short notice.
I visit Bricktown Brewery once every few months, but I never seem to like what I order. On my first visit when they first opened, I remember eating the best Veggie Burger that I have ever had; I recall that the whole black bean patty or portabello mushroom had been breaded and fried while retaining its shape and moisture. I recently ordered the Veggie Burger again, and I believe they changed the recipe into a very standard and lackluster vegetarian option.
Aside from the limited vegetarian options, I hear mixed reviews of their other offerings. While many of my friends enjoy their buffalo wings and burgers, we found many dishes disappointing. Perhaps, Bricktown Brewery exists as an option for those focusing on American bar-and-grill type food, but I was hoping for more with their menu. I recently shared a plate of their Loaded Nachosaurus (with Bricktown Chips substituted for tortilla chips) and while this dish looks incredibly impressive coming out, it did not deliver on flavor (we maybe should have left the tortilla chips alone).
While I am one to still be convinced to dine at Bricktown Brewery, it could be a good option for those looking for a laid-back brewery atmosphere with some standard options and late hours.
