DISCLAIMER: I am a vegetarian and I like a good salad.
Very few places come to mind when someone asks, “Where can I find a good salad in Wichita?” Some suggestions could include Doc Greens or Panera, but neither of those choices make me crave salad. My cravings for Two Olives’s quinoa crunch salad border on Rick of Rick and Morty’s fanatical obsession with Szechuan sauce.
Two Olives offers more than just salads; their variety of options centers around a theme of accessible and unpretentious gourmet food that will be both good for your taste buds and bank account. Two Olives offers lunch via walk-up counter and seat yourself, and dinner via standard table service.
I visit Two Olives fairly often, and I have tasted almost every item that can be modified for vegetarians/vegans. I always come back to their quinoa crunch salad; although, I have heard some complaints about the lack of quinoa in their quinoa crunch salad, I take it to heart that it first and foremost exists as salad over quinoa. I love the assortment of textures and colors that come from the root vegetables and the tangy dressing that keeps you coming back for more. I wish I took a picture of my most recent quinoa crunch salad, but I started ravenously devouring it before I remembered. I’m not salivating right now, you are.
I would be remiss to not mention other delicious items on their menu that includes a vast selection of salads, power bowls, and entrees centered around animal-based protein. True to their roots, they also offer breads, pastries, and desserts provided by another local favorite Bagatelle Bakery.
Two Olives always seems surprisingly unbusy, so they seat very quickly and provide great service. They provide a light and airy atmosphere without coming off too sterile, and the lights strung above the dining area give it a nice glow. Guests that dine with me always comment that Two Olives feels very un-Wichita, in a good way. You never expect to find a restaurant like this, in a city that obsessively celebrates everytime a new chain restaurant opens (looking at you Fuzzy’s Tacos). Do yourself a favor and visit Two Olives.
