Before I ventured into Bubba’s 33, I always thought they served seafood. I apparently was not alone, as other people in my group also thought that Bubba’s 33 specialized in seafood. If we had read the fine print, we would have figured out earlier that Bubba’s 33 specializes in pizza, burgers, and beer. Bubba’s 33 shoots straight when it comes to what they are good at, and they execute well. Nestled into that little area just southwest of Towne East Mall, they neighbor Old Chicago and Longhorn Steakhouse, and of the three, I would rather eat at Bubba’s 33.
Walking into Bubba’s 33, you immediately experience sensory overload with mysterious blue light coming from the overabundance of televisions showing everything from sports to the latest news to ’90s music videos. Similar to that, their menu offers an almost crazy amount of options, even our server was unsure of what we were asking for when we pointed straight at the menu. If you are wondering, yes, they have extensive sections for pizza, burgers, and beer.
I have not had Bubba’s 33’s pizza yet, but everyone just raves about it. The first time I ate at Bubba’s 33, I ordered a veggie burger than came out dripping in grease. On our most recent visit, I ordered a veggie burger without bun and that seemed to help with the grease factor and it tasted pretty good. Bubba’s 33 also recently introduced a brunch menu that offered tasty brunch-type items with $2 mimosas and $4 margaritas.
I generally do not like sports bars that serve American bar food, but I think Bubba’s 33 unashamedly serves decent bar food. If I had to go out to a sports bar or eat American bar food, I would not mind going back to Bubba’s 33.
