We stumbled upon Kona Ice at PedalFest 2018, and after a long morning of volunteering, all we needed was a cold treat. Kona Ice exists as a mobile, Hawaiian-style shaved ice franchise, and we happen to have one here in Wichita. Kona Ice generally does events only, but I believe they do occasionally show up over lunch time at various locations.

Since I have not been to Hawaii to have authentic Hawaiian-style shaved ice, I cannot compare it to its claims, but it reminded me of a snow cone that you would get any state fair or sporting event.

One thing that makes Kona Ice unique, is that they do not limit you to certain flavors. Kona Ice provides you with a cup of ice and on the side of the truck, you can put any flavors that you want on it. If you are unsure of what you want, you can put a little syrup on and taste it first before committing to what flavor you want.

For $3 for a cup of ice and unlimited flavors, I thought it hit the spot.
