“Have you been to Harry’s?” Some Wichitans pass by Harry’s Uptown Bar and Grill every day and never notice it. Sandwiched in between Margarita’s Cantina and R&J Discount Liquor, you could blink and miss it. An old time favorite of some locals, I just discovered it this past week.
Harry’s Uptown Bar and Grill sounds like a fancy place for a cocktail, but somehow they mash up a beach house theme with sports memorabilia to create a Cheers-style atmosphere. I liked the atmosphere while there, but in retrospect it seemed like an odd mashup. I’m not going to complain though.
Known for their strong drinks, Harry’s Uptown Bar and Grill also serves up your typical bar food with above average execution. We ordered an assortment of standard cocktails and appetizers as well as dinner entrées. As with any proper bar, everything came cloaked with an ethereal red light for added flavor.
Harry’s Uptown Bar and Grill serves very strong drinks. I have not tried asking for less alcohol, because who does that. Strong drinks come as part of the package with Harry’s Uptown Bar and Grill.
All the food came out piping hot and tasted as I would expect it to, with the waffle fries being the star of the show. Imagine Chick-fil-A and Arby’s having a baby and you would get these delicious waffle fries.
I would come back to Harry’s Uptown Bar and Grill after a long day at work, or any time I was feeling an adult beverage with decent food in a laid back atmosphere with good service.
