In an area overrun with fast food and chain restaurants, Le Monde Cafe & Deli sits nestled in between Dillons and Pizza Hut. Like its French name hints at, Le Monde Cafe & Deli serves French European cuisine with a Mediterranean flare. A tiny, standalone restaurant, Le Monde Cafe & Deli sits in a one-way parking lot and houses maybe 15 tables, but serves big flavors.
Most Wichitans know of Le Monde Cafe & Deli due to news coverage of a controversial social media post from a patron spewing anti-Muslim sentiments about the restaurant and its owners. Wichitans flocked to the restaurant in support of the owners and local community, and discovered that beyond being great people, the owners also serve great food.
I visit Le Monde Cafe & Deli every so often, and they never fail to deliver in good service and good food. For a quick and satisfying lunch, we ordered hummus and steak, chicken shawarma, and almond crusted salmon. On top of that, every meal comes with delicious freshly baked, sweet biscuits.
I think these pictures speak for themselves as far as quality and taste, but I will go ahead and say everything was delicious and I would eat again in a heartbeat. The flavors were well balanced and beautifully presented. I finished my entire plate.
Le Monde Cafe & Deli remains a humble cafe and deli, but serves food found at expensive restaurants. Despite news sensationalism about this restaurant, go instead for the great food and service.
